Experimental Sound Studio, Chicago, May 21, 2024.
We are delighted to present sound artist Kikù Hibino exploring his approaches of multi-channel works through the world of his album Sky Trajectories (2024, from Superpang). The piece is an experimental sonic work that uses Anne Carson’s text as its theme, exploring how minimal musical units, characterized by off-grid rhythm patterns and voice (by Whitney Johnson), approach human perception. In this workshop, Hibino will explain how he approaches multi-channel works, using several pieces from this album as examples. Additionally, he will discuss the 4-channel sound installation, Fell to Fern, which was exhibited at the Lincoln Park Conservatory from June to October 2022.
The workshops are FREE and space is plentiful. Following this round of four workshops we will start planning future CLEAT workshop series in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Fall 2025. We also invite all participants to come out next week 5/29 for a special CLEAT / tea ceremony experience with Haotian Wang!
